Validation and Vulnerability: The Keys to Unlocking Stuck Parents

 Laura Goldstein, LCMFT will cover how can we motivate parents to practice validation with their children. We know that this is an essential component to child and adolescent development, especially for those with intense emotions and/or those who find themselves in treatment. While plenty of parents learn the importance and/or skills of validation, there often remains obstacles in their ability to implement. Parents get stuck in their own emotions and thinking errors and have a hard time applying validation for their child (and themselves). In this presentation, we debunk the three most common thinking errors that interfere with validation skills, and discuss how to motivate parents to use the power of their own vulnerability in order to clear the path for more a effective and healing parent-child relationship.
