Metro MFT Fall Conference

The Citizen Therapist: Our Role in a Divided World

Presented by William Doherty, PhD, LMFT

Description: In today’s deeply divided nation, where political and ideological differences can strain relationships, families, and communities, therapists and other helping professionals can play a crucial role. As healers and community helpers, we have a unique opportunity to help navigate the complexities of polarization, from both inside and outside of the therapy space. Join us for an engaging workshop where we will explore how therapists can help bridge gaps, foster understanding, and promote healing.

Workshop Highlights:

  • Understanding the “Other”: Develop insights into the political and ideological perspectives of others, both inside and outside therapy.

  • Connecting Clinical Work and Society: Explore the impact of societal polarization on your practice.

  • Skills for Bridging Divides: Learn practical techniques for engaging with polarized individuals, families, and groups.

  • Contributing to the Public Good: Discover opportunities to use your expertise beyond the therapy room.
